What this does

Video Trimmer cuts a clip out of a longer video by start and end time. Uses FFmpeg's stream-copy mode — no re-encoding, no quality loss, and the trim takes seconds even on large files.

When to use it

  • Pulling a 10-second highlight out of a 30-minute recording
  • Removing the boring intro / outro of a clip before sharing
  • Splitting a long lecture or stream into shareable segments
  • Cutting a video down before compressing it further

Frequently asked

Why is trimming so much faster than compressing?

Stream-copy mode (`-c copy`) extracts the bytes for the chosen time range without decoding and re-encoding the video. It's almost instantaneous compared to re-encoding.

Is the trim frame-accurate?

Close, but not always exact. FFmpeg's fast seek lands on the nearest keyframe — usually within 0.1–1 second of the requested point. For frame-accurate cuts, use the playhead in the preview to pick your timestamps.

Can I save multiple clips at once?

Not yet — one clip per operation. Repeat for additional clips. Bulk trim is on the roadmap.
